SPOTLIGHT DANCE FESTIVAL – SECONDARY SHOW ARRANGEMENTS
We are incredibly proud to announce that we are running the 21st Spotlight Dance Show this year featuring Rutland Schools and Rutland Youth Dance Academy students. The date for the Secondary Show is Thursday 27th March at the Corn Exchange Theatre, Stamford.
Event Details
Our RYDA groups involved in this performance are as follows:-
Year 7/8 Street Dance, Secondary Contemporary (Y7+), Year 9-11 Street Dance, UCC Dance Crew, All Stars, Advanced Street Dance 16+
I hope you can appreciate a lot of preparation is required, therefore, with your permission, we would like all performers to spend some time at the theatre to go through final rehearsals, light and sound organisation and dress rehearsals prior to the Evening performance.
Times for Rehearsal
Providing we have permission from yourselves and your school/college we would like all our dancers to spend one day at the Theatre venue for rehearsals on Thursday 27th March. This should not affect drop off or collection times from the normal school day.
Catmose College Students
Dancers will be picked up by bus from school on the day of the event and taken to the theatre with a member of RYDA staff chaperoning them. Collection time from school will be confirmed closer to the event. During the day will do a technical rehearsal and also a dress rehearsal that will finish at approximately 2pm when students will be returned to school.
Parents will need to follow the normal procedure to request a student absence for this day by emailing studentabsence@catmosecollege.com. The college will not allow any student to leave the premises on the day unless they have approved their absence via an email.
Uppingham Community College Students
Our RYDA students will need to make these arrangements through Miss Zareba. Please confirm with her what paper work needs to be completed to gain an authorised absence to attend this rehearsal. RYDA students will travel to and from the Theatre with Miss Hodgson and the other students involved in the event for our daytime rehearsal.
Advanced Street Dance Students
You will be responsible for both requesting an absence from school/college and also getting yourselves too and from the venue for the dress rehearsal on Thursday 27th March. Any issues with transport please do let me know and I will help out where I can. Please arrive at theatre at 10am and rehearsal will finished at 2pm.
Evening show/Drop off Procedures
All performers will need to arrange their own transport to and from the evening performance. All dancers should arrive at the theatre no later than 30 mins prior to their respective start time.
The show will start at 7pm on Thursday 27th March
RYDA Performers will need to be dropped off with RYDA Chaperone at our meeting point which will be on Broad Street outside Willoughby’s and Barclay Bank. I will show all students where this is so that they can show you at drop off. After the evening performance, dancers can be collected from this same point. Any parents who are not watching the show should be at the collection point at approximately 8.15pm

Performers License

The purpose of the licence is to ensure children’s safety as there is alcohol on sale at the event and to confirm children are not being paid to perform. The relevant local authority will hold this information on record and will not share this with third parties.
